The National Scientific Balloon Base is a NASA-run facility outside Palestine where balloons carrying sensitive scientific data are launched into the upper reaches of Earth's atmosphere. The National Scientific Balloon Base in Palestine has been at this location since 1963, and this base usually launches 25 to 35 balloons a year. The launch window in Palestine is from May through September, with most launches taking place from June to August to take advantage of prevailing winds that carry the balloons away from heavily populated areas. Davey Dogwood Park

Granny Muffin Wines
Granny Muffin Wines is custom winery making small batches of many different varieties of wine. The wine is fermented, aged and bottled downstairs in the winery, while the tasting room and retail area is located upstairs in the Texas Art Depot Gallery. There are over 25 different varietal wines to choose from, as well as, gift items, sculptures, and wine totes. Cheese and sausages are available to enjoy with your wine. Located in Anderson County 20 miles northwest of Palestine on US Hwy 287. 10,941 acres. Howard House Museum
The Howard House is one of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture remaining in Texas Today. Built in 1848, by Judge Reuben Reeves in one of the earliest areas of Palestine to develop. In 1850 Colonel G.R. Howard purchased the home, and in 1964 the house was sold to the city to be used as a museum. 1101 N.
